Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a method of encouraging one's body to heal naturally and improve its function. The Classical Chinese explanation is that channels of energy run along certain pathways called meridians, when these are blocked disease, discomfort, or pain results. Acupuncture opens and moves that blockage to create health and wellness.

Cupping Therapy

Cupping is a ancient therapy which decompresses soft tissues using vacuum suction, unlike other forms of massage that compresses soft tissues. During cupping, the cup creates a pulling sensation stretching fascia, pulling out toxins, and stimulating nutrient rich blood into the tissue. Shelby Ankerfelt

Shelby Ankerfelt is a graduate from Northwestern Health Sciences University, who finished her Masters of Acupuncture in August of 2025. She is currently studying for the NCCAOM Acupuncture boards as well as finishing up her Masters in Functional Nutrition. Shelby started her career in healthcare by becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant in 2016, and working in nursing homes, long-term care facilities and the Saint Cloud, Centracare hospital. She attended Saint Cloud State University and graduated with a Baccalaureate of Science in Biomedical Sciences in 2021. Shelby’s clinical focus is on blending traditional Chinese theory and acupuncture with the more modern functional nutrition theories to support her patients in the best way possible. She has specialized training in Bao Loc, Vietnam working with chronic body pain and life-long illnesses and has also trained in pediatric oncology and pain management. Shelby believes that Eastern medicine can complement the new discoveries of Western medicine to provide whole-person, patient-centered healthcare.

Hello! My name is Nikki Vang. I was raised in a family deeply rooted in the wisdom of traditional Chinese and South East Asian medicine, I’ve experienced a unique approach to wellness that transcends generations. I learned traditional remedies passed down through generations—whether it was a comforting bowl of chicken soup infused with medicinal herbs or the gentle application of herbal ointments to alleviate discomfort.

I earned my Masters Degree in Acupuncture in 2022, and my Doctorate in Chinese Medicine in 2023 at Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington. My clinical experience includes Woodwinds Hospital in Woodbury, the University of Minnesota Medical Center—Riverside and Journey Center locations, and the Integrative Clinic of Minnesota in Minneapolis. I did my herbal internship Derusha clinic and the Bloomington Clinic at Northwestern Health Science University.

Jessica Sunsdahl is the owner and operator of Willow Tree Acupuncture. A St. Joesph native, Jessica graduated from the University of Minnesota-Duluth in 2003 with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Psychology. After traveling in Asia Jessica became interested in Chinese medicine. She started her journey at the World Medicine Institute in Honolulu, HI. She completed her Master’s of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine at the American Academy of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in Roseville, MN. Jessica is very passionate about her work and truly loves being apart of her clients positive health transformations.
